Garmin GTS 800

ADS-B enhanced Traffic Advisory System (TAS)

Garmin's release of the GTS family of ADS-B enhanced Traffic Advisory Systems (TAS) and Traffic Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS) were a welcome addition to an already comprehensive list of avionics components. Each of the systems are suited to a specific range of aircraft and budget/performance preferences, meaning there is sure to be a system suitable for your own aircraft. All of the GTS systems are suitable for operation up to 50,000 feet, removing any low altitude limits that some other TAS/TCAS systems suffer with.

The GTS 800 is a feature-rich option for an affordable price, suitable for the vast majority of single-engine piston aircraft and helicopters. The range and performance of this particular system is comparable to units that cost considerably more money, making this a real competitor to improve your situational awareness in the air.

Garmin's GTS 800 is fitted with a top-mounted directional antenna as standard, though a bottom-mount antenna is also available for an additional expense to improve your overall coverage. The remote transmitter, receiver and computer LRU featured within this basic model do not require additional panel space within your cockpit, as the system is designed to interface with the vast majority of popular system displays.

Tracking of up to 60 targets, a +/- 10,000-foot vertical separation and an interrogation range of 12nm make the GTS 800 an exceptionally accurate and highly informative TAS/TCAS. With voice alerts specifically designed to provide you with more information than the typical 'Traffic, traffic' of some systems, you will find yourself informed of the position, altitude and distance of any intruders within your airspace.

It is difficult to find a more feature packed TAS/TCAS system for a better price than Garmin's GTS800. For more information about this, or any other units within Garmin's GTS range, contact us now on +44 (0)1452 855501.
